From Our Chairman – Fairwell
This is my final blog as chairman of the Centre County Republican Party. I can not believe it has been 4 years but what a 4-year term to be on the front lines of politics in Centre County.
I would like to thank all of you that have donated to the party monetarily, or via your talents.
The Party is what matters here, it isn’t about one person or another, it is about the Party and its principles. That is why we do what we do.
I have always felt the party is a conduit for connecting voters to the party’s representatives on every level of government.
The next chairman may see it differently.
The title chairman is just that a title, if you do not have a good team with you nothing succeeds, and I have had an amazing group of people to share this term. Special thanks to Mike Williams and Penny Burkett that have taken on a role most shy away from, treasurer and to Anne Marshall for becoming party secretary and forensic data manager when we had to reinvent the wheel in January 2017.
I can never thank Judith Wilson enough for being a fantastic Vice Chairman! My work schedule takes me from events many times and Judith has always been there to cover for me. More than anything else she has become a wonderful friend.
Voters will decide the next chairman and vice chairman tomorrow. I encourage you to vote but in my role as chairman I have always felt I must stay neutral and not use the bully pulpit.
Republicans are accused all the time of imposing their will on the voters, because we endorse at the state level. Our county bylaws allow us to endorse also but we never have, the voters have decided at the county level who they select for general elections.
I am not leaving the party, just stepping aside as chair.
It has been a pleasure to serve you and I look forward to having conversations with many of you.
Stay involved, bring a friend, GOP really means Grow Our Party!
